Introduction
If you are searching for things to do in Niagara Falls, Canada this winter, look no further! Niagara Falls has plenty to offer from attractions to restaurants and unique activities. imagine yourself sitting in a cozy restaurant overlooking the falls with coloured lights dancing across the water during one of Niagara’s evening light shows. If this interests you, keep reading!
The Falls
Are they worth the hype? Being someone who loves nature and its beauty, yes, the Falls are amazing, and the community of Niagara offers many fun activities. I recommend visiting the falls outside of peak hours as the falls can become very busy during the day. The business can impact your ability to find nearby parking and to get that view of the Falls you’ve been dreaming of. If you are staying overnight in Niagara Falls, I recommend returning to the falls after dark to see the light display projected onto the water. Additionally, a direct view of this light display from the cozy Table Rock House Restaurant makes for a perfect dinner.
The Food
Antica Pizzeria & Ristorante
The Antica Pizzeria & Ristorante has amazing food and great service. Their authentic wood-oven-baked pizzas were cheesy, crispy, and delicious. The pizzeria is located a short walk from attractions such as the Niagara Sky Wheel making it a great location for lunch or supper while exploring Niagara. In addition to great food, Antica will validate your parking which is a rarity while visiting the tourist area of the city.
Table Rock House Restaurant
The Table Rock Restaurant is situated directly in front of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls with large windows that offer a picturesque dining experience. We were overjoyed to be sat with a direct view of the falls as one of the evening light shows was starting. The food was phenomenal, and our server was amazing. The menu included a delicious appetizer, entrée, and dessert special for a reasonable price. With many locally sourced ingredients, Table Rock House Cafe not only offers a beautiful view but also allows you to experience the region through cuisine.
Things to do in Niagara Falls: Attractions
The Niagara Skye Wheel
Along the colourful and vibrant streets that surround the Falls sits the Niagara Sky Wheel. The Sky Wheel offers gorgeous views of the falls and other landmarks. When we visited the fare was $15.00 for adults and $7.00 for children. While the prices are on the expensive side, this attraction offers you the ability to sit back, relax, and take in the Falls with a unique view.
Maple Leaf Place
Canadian or not, Maple Leaf Place is a destination that I highly recommend visiting! You can sample chocolates, fudge, and maple syrup all made in the factory located in Maple Leaf Place. The person working the sample counter was extremely kind and gave us way more sugar than we needed. There are many different kinds of maple syrup to try and a lot to learn about the different flavours and types of syrup. In addition, there was a lovely gift shop showcasing many different creations and works of art from artists across Canada. If you are looking for a very Canadian experience, Maple Leaf Place is the place for you.
The Butterfly Conservatory
The Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara is fun and informational! You follow a path through a butterfly oasis with gorgeous plants, butterflies, and water features. Especially in the winter, this habitat offers a fun escape from the cold as you feel like you’ve stepped into summer. Before entering the habitat there is an informational video explaining how the conservatory operates and the butterfly’s life cycle. The conservatory also has a window that shows the emergence of butterflies from their cocoons. This attraction is enjoyable and informational for all ages!
Niagara Falls Festival of Lights
A unique winter attraction is the Niagara Winter Festival of Lights. This lights festival includes several activities and gorgeous light displays. As you walk these trails and take in the lights, you feel as though you are walking in a winter wonderland. These lights bring to life the magic of the holiday season. But don’t worry, because if you are cold you can stop at one of the many restaurants and cafes along the Hot Chocolate Trail and purchase a warm and creamy treat. The Hot Chocolate Trail includes many different and exciting twists on traditional hot chocolate while also including some classic chocolate concoctions.
