Shops and Cafes You Need to Visit

Introduction

Port Perry is an adorable destination with a small-town charm. This town makes you feel as if you’ve wandered onto a movie set. With beautiful brick buildings, family-owned shops, and amazing butter tarts, you need to visit Port Perry!

Pantry Shelf the Café Bakery & Fine Foods

You can’t visit Port Perry without stopping for lunch or a sweet treat at the Pantry Shelf Café Bakery & Fine Foods.

Open for over 25 years, this café is cozy, welcoming, and has delicious food. The food portions are perfect for a light lunch and their prices are reasonable, making a lunch on the down justifiable.

If you visit, you must try their butter tarts, these tarts are truly some of the best I’ve ever had!

The Pantry Shelf is a lovely stop but it is often busy. Therefore, I recommend visiting outside of peak mealtimes as you may have more luck getting a table.

Stroll Palmer Park

What’s better than a relaxing walk along the lake? Palmer Park is located directly across the street from the Pantry Shelf which makes it the perfect addition to a Port Perry travel itinerary.

Palmer Park has a well-maintained walking path along Lake Scugog, plenty of seating options, and a park for the kids. During the holidays, there are lights set up in the park to spread the joy of the season.

A stroll through Palmer Park is a great way to get some fresh air in between shopping and enjoying local cafes.

Willowbooks

Willowbooks is a hidden gem situated in the basement of a clothing store on the main street of Port Perry.

This used bookstore is perfect for all readers with inexpensive books wall to wall. There are books for everyone from history to science fiction and romance.

If you are looking for a local used bookstore to support, this is the place to go!

Hank’s Pastries

Hank’s Pastries is full of some of the most beautiful and elaborately decorated baked goods I have ever seen.

They are known for their doughnuts as they are beautiful, delicious, and creative. But they also have bread, squares, tarts, and more.

If you are searching for goodies to share with friends or family, these pastries are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

One of their most notable creations is their butter tart doughnut where they’ve placed butter tart filling in the center of a doughnut. This unique and creative doughnut has become a favorite amongst visitors and is a must-try if you visit Port Perry.

Old Flame Brewing Co.

Lastly, if you enjoy visiting unique breweries and tasting local flavors, the Old Flame Brewing Co. is the perfect addition to your travel plans.

Located a block off the main street, this brewery is easily accessible and within walking distance of the above-mentioned stops. Old Flame Brewing Co. roots itself in tradition by using classic German Lagering techniques.

This brewery is certainly more than an evening drink, it is an experience that opens a window to the history of the area and the drinks.
